Van Sinderen Plaza

Brooklyn, New York, NY
주상복합 공공임대주택 (2개동)

Located in the fastest growing section of Brooklyn in which over half the population lives below the poverty line, two ground-up mixed-use buildings totaling 180,000 sq.ft. will provide 130 affordable apartments for families.

Urbanistically at the western edge of East New York, across the street from elevated train and bus routes, the buildings are set back from the street to create a complementary pair of triangular landscaped plazas that emphasize a gateway, create public outdoor space, and result in a pedestrian-friendly scale sympathetic with the low-lying neighboring houses. Architecturally, the façade is colorful and sculptural, providing interest to the repetitive nature of the program.
